Training for employees of career centers in VET schools to help students with professional orientation and career development

The question of employment is relevant for all students, including students of VET schools. Despite the fact that the employment rate of graduates of VET schools is high, it will never be extra to understand what prospects and opportunities graduates have, how to build a career, where to look for a decent job. Career centers, which have recently appeared in VET schools, are responsible for these issues in the vocational education system.

In order to make these centers as efficient as possible, to teach their employees how to communicate with students correctly, and to help them choose a further professional path, EU4Skills launched a series of training events for students and teachers.

On September 15, the first offline training “Organization, promotion and methodical development of career centers” was held at Higher Vocational School No. 7 (Kremenchuk). It was attended by 25 teachers and employees of four VET schools of the Poltava Region (Regional Center of Vocational Education No. 1, the Kremenchug Vocational Lyceum named after A.S. Makarenko and Vocational and Technical College No. 26).

Before the start of the training, a survey in VET schools was conducted in order to identify their needs for the creation of new or development of existing career centers. Accordingly, a training program was formed in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science, which includes 48 activities (offline and online) for 21 VET schools in 7 regions of Ukraine – Lviv, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhya, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Rivne and Chernivtsi. The format is modern and interesting: trainings, business breakfasts, career days, job fairs, as well as the All-Ukrainian Career Orientation Forum and the National Marathon.
